A deer track through swampy Coire Chaolais Bhig, with improbably garish sphagnum, lit by the merciless sun. After descending from Meall nan Eun, we reach a stifling corrie, quite wettish despite the drought elsewhere. Between and around the sphagnum lots of heath, cross-leaved and otherwise, in bloom, amidst fruit-bearing bog asphodel. Descending through here and further on we were harassed by a host of keds or louse flies, those horrible creeps.
